Me, Myself, & I; Director of Possibilities, The Advocate & Inspirer...

Updated: Mar 21, 2023

"My values, philosophy, dreams, and calling"

My curated mural represents influential female leaders who broke societal and cultural taboos (misfits like me). I want to be remembered as the misfit that changed the world for the better. The architecture resembles history that can't be erased and is always cherished by people around the world. Without water, roses and trees wouldn't survive. Trees and flowers flourish in fair weather and soil conditions. I feel the same way. To have a better world for everyone, constructive systems must give them their fundamental rights and needs to flourish and help each other.

I am driven by helping people. I am someone who wants to be a world leader that inspires to build communities, motivate people, and establish a foundation of an organization that is built on trust, appreciation, commitment, success, empathy, love, and compassion—the reason why I put images of roses and trees because they remind me of myself.

I see myself as an inspirer who likes leading people by motivating them to get behind challenging and important ideas, projects, or business objectives.

I like to be motivating, engaging, supportive, and leadership-oriented. I prefer to drive performance and achievement through positive reinforcement rather than harsh criticism or punishment. Also, I am adaptable to change and can shift the roles I play in various situations. I use my emotional intelligence to assess situations. Sometimes, I would be more vocal or subtle and less assertive as the circumstances allow me, and I have a good read on the people I am engaging with.

One of the things that I truly value and appreciate is empathy. Luckily, my personality type is INFJ: The Advocate. I can connect emotionally to others, and I get too emotionally invested in other people's problems, and I truly put myself in people's shoes to understand their feelings and struggles.

The Type of Person I Want to Be...

I am someone with an inner desire to have positive outcomes and impact. I have a passion for technology, arts, nature, and design. I like exploring the unknown. I always learn from the people around me because they inspire me. I value the different cultures that I come from. I deeply value and appreciate my roots and identity as they guide me to learn about people and society. One of the things that I have learned in the Middle Eastern culture is the art of giving and generosity. It is important to share knowledge, kindness, empathy, love, and peace.

"My intellectual agenda" & "life aspirations"

When I was in New Orleans in 2019, I attended an exhibit about women and Jazz. This song is called This Land is Your Land by Sharon Jones, a soul and funk artist and singer. Women in arts, media, and politics inspire me to break out of my shell. They don't always subscribe to or conform to societal traditions and regulations.

The quote below is from Bad Feminist by Roxana Gay's book. One of my favorite things in this book is that feminists don't want to be treated like shit. They deserve to be heard, and they deserve to be taken care of. Women don't have to call themselves 'feminists' to negotiate an offer or access basic rights. Women don't need that feminist label to be treated with respect and have equal rights.

I try to keep my feminism simple. I know feminism is complex and evolving and flawed. I know feminism will not and cannot fix everything. I believe in equal opportunities for women and men. I believe in women having reproductive freedom and affordable and unfettered access to the healthcare they need. I believe women should be paid as much as men for doing the same work. Feminism is a choice, and if a woman does not want to be a feminist, that is her right, but it is still my responsibility to fight for her rights. I believe feminism is grounded in supporting the choices of women even if we wouldn’t make certain choices for ourselves. I believe women not just in the United States but throughout the world deserve equality and freedom but know I am in no position to tell women of other cultures what that equality and freedom should look like. - Roxana Gay

I am using my voice, intellectual power, and knowledge to inspire women who, unfortunately, don't have the tool to voice their opinions or struggles. I want to be the person who helps other women to succeed and achieve their potential. At the age of 16, when my mother, brother, and I decided to move again to the United States, I had to be the advocate, inspirer, and leader to make sure that we had a safe life. My first female follower was my mother, who had to end her marriage to seek a better life for herself and us. With my younger brother and I in toe, she was embodying her directive, risking everything in the pursuit of her dreams of freedom and independence. But it wasn't easy. I was born to be the caregiver and inspirer for my family. And I am so grateful for the personality qualities and skills that helped me put my foot at the college door and help myself and my brother succeed and achieve our desires and goals.

"How My career Has Started..."

Since coming to the U.S. 12 years ago, I have followed my passions, not always knowing where they would take me but confident that it led me to my purpose. I studied Political Science at George Washington University to learn about democracy and human rights. Inspired by alumni who became leaders of change, such as Jacqueline Kennedy, I learned that freedom of expression is valuable. I studied Journalism and Mass Communication to equip myself with the knowledge and skills needed to express my opinions and advocate for freedom of expression in the Middle East. The timing of my studies was synchronistic with the events of the Arab Spring when governments were still trying to reinstate and stabilize their power. During that period, I began to dream about establishing my digital magazine to support freedom of expression, particularly for women, minorities, and the LGBTQ community.

I have a nurturing personality because I desire to support others' needs and touch people's emotions and feelings. Through my leadership skills, I am willing to take charge in groups and rally others around a common vision or goal.

Coming from a diverse culture, I want to bridge ideas and services to help people. I want to work on products that foster collaborations and bridge cultures and generations together.

I want to build products and services that advocate for human rights, diversity, equality, and inclusion. I want to support underdeveloped and developing communities to have better and fair access to technology, education, safe lifestyles, healthy environments -- I am referring to the basic human needs and rights. And, of course, one of the things that I hope I could have the chance to work on is ending sexual harassment in the Middle East, which is a wicked problem.

I am currently working on the mission to be featured on Forbes 30 under 30 and nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
